Well maybe Mark Twain's comment is a bit of exaggeration but the weather today has been variable. Stood outside the house just before my run it felt warm in the sunshine. 100 yards and a turn of the corner exposed me to a cutting wind, so it was back home to swap a t-shirt for a long sleeved top. For most of the run the sun shone and it got quite warm. Then suddenly it clouded over. I only just made it home before the heavens opened and there was the first of the day's downpours.
Then it cleared up into a nice day again, just long enough for me to walk the dog.
By the time I was setting off for the fundraising family fun run this afternoon the sky was looking extremely ominous. A few flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder and the rain came down in torrents. Within a few minutes the roads were awash. Then as quickly as the sky darkened it cleared again, though the temperature had dropped a couple of degrees.
The field for the fun run wasn't huge but there were a satisfying number of runners and a good spread of ages from pre-schoolers to the more mature. It's great to see that running is becoming so popular - every ultra-runner was a fun runner once.
Today's stats:
Distance: 8.11 miles (the 2 miles to the allotment and back with the dog don't really count as you spend a lot of time stopped while he has a good sniff)
Elevation gained: 242 metres
